Wenqi is a senior education studies major with a certificate in mathematics. She is interested in data analysis in educational fields, especially in bilingual education. She is a transfer intern in the Center For the First-Year Experience leading a team of six undergraduate student transfer ambassadors to hold on-campus events for all transfer students. She is a research assistant in the lab of the department of educational psychology. She is also a student staff representative of UW–Madison in the 2017 annual meetings of the Association for Orientation, Transition, Retention in Higher Education. She has been awarded for the Marvin and Beatrice Fruth Great People Scholarship and the Outstanding Transfer Student by the Transfer Transition Program. In addition, she co-designs and facilitates a research project in the Learning, Cognition and Development Lab examining the effects of L2 language exposure and current language context on categorization in Mandarin-English bilinguals. What she loves about the education studies major are the courses’ choices in different concentrations, professional and communicative professors and comprehensive academic advising and career services.
